In addition to welcoming commercial vessels (pulp, liquid bulk, dry bulk, wind turbine components and general cargo), the Port of Matane is used by fishing vessels, government vessels, a road ferry operated by the Société des Traversiers du Québec, a rail ferry operated by CN, Construction CEG (a company that builds prefabricated buildings destined for the far north), Les Barges de Matane Inc., and also includes a shipyard.

The following regulations must be adhered to at each of our sites and at all times
Have on hand all required work permits.
Dispose of your garbage at the designated areas.
Do not consume drugs or alcohol when on SPBSG property.
Do not circumvent fences, worksite areas, or safety and security barriers.
Only smoke within the designated areas.
Always wear the following CSA-approved equipment: Safety helmet, safety boots, high-visibility vest, and personal flotation device (PFD) within three metres of the wharf.
Immediately report any injury, defect, hazard or incident to the authorities.
Respect workers not working inside motor vehicles. They always have the right of way.
Keep away from the mooring lines of a vessel.
Wear your seat belt at all times when inside a vehicle; this applies to all passengers.
